Mother's Day, Mother-of-the Bride make-up tips
OK ladies - lets remember that the skin is the largest organ of the body and is not only exposed to toxins from our lifestyles, but also UV radiation and the effects of gravity.
The last of these we can not change...unless you know a very good surgeon! However, toxins can be limited by thoughtful consumption and UV exposure can be reduced by the use of suitable protection. Nevertheless, if like everyone else you have perhaps noticed the effects of age on your face, here are some tips to help disguise the years... Always use a moisturiser with a UV filter, but do not mistake it for Sun Screen. Draw your moisturiser up your neck and over your face - never assist gravity by pulling your skin down! The face starts to ‘sink’ with time causing lines and also tends to dry with hormonal changes. Mixing your foundation 50/50 with your regular moisturiser before application will help with dryness and prevent heavy make-up sitting in the crevices and accentuating your natural lines. We also advise you stay away from pale and biscuit colours if you are naturally pale as this can make your skin look sallow. We are all subject to fine lines around our eyes which become more noticeable as we age. If you’ve starting to notice this more, stay away from glitters and liquid/gel eye shadow, as this will accentuate lines by sitting in the crevices. Preferably stick to powder eyeshadows. Bright colours are fine for older eyes too, but do not go above the crease of your eye in case the colour ‘bleeds’ or ‘sinks’ into creases. Everyone’s lips naturally thin as we age. This is more prominent in smokers, as is exaggerated lines around the nose and mouth. To make lips appear fuller and prevent lipstick ‘bleeding’ into fine lines, always line the lips with a natural coloured waxy lip liner, blend toward the centre of the mouth and fill inside the line with a lipstick of your choice. Keep it Matt rather than Gloss and even the brightest of reds shouldn’t ‘bleed’.
